The programme runs through early January with the Municipal Philharmonic and the Conservatory children's choir, carol singers, a Christmas circus and dance shows, plus a silent fireworks display chosen to avoid frightening animals. Children's activities and a small Christmas village set up around the central squares, and on New Year's Eve people gather in the Old Town and at the seafront for the countdown.
