Births are normally declared within 10 days and deaths within 24 hours of the event, with strict legal deadlines, so act quickly. Many declarations and certificate requests can be started through the municipality's e-services at rethymno.gr, but originals such as the hospital birth notice or the doctor's death certificate must usually be presented. Events in other parts of the district are handled by the registry of the relevant municipality, for example Mylopotamos, Amari, Agios Vasileios or Anogeia.
Το Ληξιαρχείο του Δήμου Ρεθύμνης καταχωρεί γεννήσεις, πολιτικούς και θρησκευτικούς γάμους, σύμφωνα συμβίωσης και θανάτους που συμβαίνουν στην περιοχή του και εκδίδει τα σχετικά πιστοποιητικά.
