Crete's only official European-curriculum school, the School of European Education, is in Heraklion, roughly 80 km east, so families needing a full international diploma track often commute or relocate there. Confirm enrollment, ages served and fees directly, as small private schools change year to year.
Το Ρέθυμνο δεν διαθέτει μεγάλο διεθνές σχολείο με πλήρες πρόγραμμα όπως τα μεγαλύτερα της Αθήνας, οπότε οι περισσότερες οικογένειες ομογενών είτε γράφουν τα παιδιά στα δωρεάν ελληνικά δημόσια σχολεία (με ισχυρή γλωσσική εμβύθιση) είτε επιλέγουν μικρές δίγλωσσες και εναλλακτικές λύσεις. Το Rethymno International School προσφέρει δίγλωσση διδασκαλία στα Αγγλικά και τα Ελληνικά από το νηπιαγωγείο έως περίπου την ΣΤ Δημοτικού. Στην κοιλάδα του Αμαρίου και στα ορεινά χωριά υπάρχουν εναλλακτικά σχολεία, όπως το Little Heart Montessori School και το School of Nature and Colors στους Φουρφουρά για μικρότερες ηλικίες. Το μοναδικό σχολείο ευρωπαϊκού προγράμματος στην Κρήτη, το Σχολείο Ευρωπαϊκής Παιδείας, βρίσκεται στο Ηράκλειο, περίπου 80 χλμ ανατολικά, γι' αυτό όσες οικογένειες χρειάζονται πλήρες διεθνές δίπλωμα συχνά μετακινούνται εκεί. Επιβεβαιώστε εγγραφές, ηλικίες και δίδακτρα απευθείας, καθώς τα μικρά ιδιωτικά σχολεία αλλάζουν από χρόνο σε χρόνο.
