Hello RethymnoHello RethymnoThe Loggia is a graceful Venetian building of around 1538 to 1540, attributed to the architect Michele Sanmicheli, built as a meeting place where the city's nobles discussed political and commercial affairs. Under Ottoman rule it became a mosque, and from 1951 it housed the city's Archaeological Museum until that collection moved out. Today the small square building, at the corner of Arkadiou and Palaiologou Streets in the Old Town, hosts a shop run by the Archaeological Receipts Fund selling museum quality replicas of Greek sculptures and art books. It is one of the most photographed monuments in Rethymno.
Η Λότζια είναι ένα κομψό βενετσιάνικο κτίριο των ετών γύρω στο 1538 με 1540, που αποδίδεται στον αρχιτέκτονα Μικέλε Σανμικέλι και χτίστηκε ως τόπος συνάντησης όπου οι ευγενείς της πόλης συζητούσαν πολιτικά και εμπορικά ζητήματα. Επί Οθωμανών μετατράπηκε σε τζαμί, και από το 1951 στέγασε το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο της πόλης μέχρι που η συλλογή μεταφέρθηκε αλλού. Σήμερα το μικρό τετράγωνο κτίριο, στη γωνία των οδών Αρκαδίου και Παλαιολόγου στην Παλιά Πόλη, φιλοξενεί κατάστημα του Ταμείου Αρχαιολογικών Πόρων που πουλά πιστά αντίγραφα ελληνικών γλυπτών και βιβλία τέχνης. Είναι ένα από τα πιο φωτογραφημένα μνημεία του Ρεθύμνου.
